Did You Know You Can Use Aweber to Send Your Posts Automatically?

Blog Setup: I am going to tell you how you can get Aweber to send your blog post automatically for you. If you are like me and other network marketers, you have an email list and you have follow up and broadcasts going to your Aweber list several time a week and when you are doing blog post you want to make sure that your Aweber list is receiving your post automatically.

When you are doing blog setup and you are using Aweber you have the option to do a blog broadcast, plus send your blog post as a broadcast, so lets get into how you can do it.

If you are reading this from somewhere else and not my blog you can see a step by step video. The link will be located at the end of this article. So lets get into blog setup using Aweber

Step 1: Sign into Aweber.

Step 2: Go To The Messages Tab

Step 3: Select Blog Broadcast

Step 4: Go To Create A New Blog Broadcast

Step 5: You’ll want to start filling in the information… the first information you want to fill out is the (Rss Feed Url)

So you need to find the rss feed, you need to open a new tab and go to your blog, you need to get the feed for blog setup.

How you do that is on your blog… depending on what browser you are using you need to get the page source code. Each browser has different ways to find the source page.

If you are using google chrome like I am you will go to > view on your toolbar > then go to developer and then > view source.

Once again there will be a video link below. Now Blog Setup is pretty similar when you are using a different browser if you are using firefox, internet explore, safari etc go to google and do a search on how to find the RSS feed on whatever browser you are using.

So when you are in view source on google chrome go to your browser tool bar and go to > Edit > Find > Find and type in RSS, There will be different sections that says RSS the blog setup section you choose will be.

You want to copy and paste (http://omarandtreshamcfadden.com/feed/) thats my feed yours will be different of course.

Now you need to go back to aweber and paste it in the RSS feed URL section.

Step 6: Go to template and choose one you like.

Step 7: Then click Load Template

Step 8: Go To Send Time and choose either( Immediately or you can choose a specific time)

Step 9: Next Go To How Often Should We Send Your Blog BroadCast?

You have 3 choices to choose.

When Number Of New Items is at least, choose what is best for you, or

On a specific day or days if the month( and choose which is best) or

Send Automatically

Step 10: Save Blog Broadcast. You might get an error but that’s OK. Lets continue with blog setup.

Step 11: Now the broadcast is setup you want to test it so on the right hand side, click on test

add in a email address you want to use to receive the test type in you name. then click to send.

Check email if test email is there if so, you are all done.

5 Facebook Business Page Tips You Can Take to the Bank!

With Facebook business pages being one of the most successful and leading methods to create buzz, promote your brand or advertise your business, I’m sure I speak for others when I say we could all use some helpful tips to optimize our Facebook Fan page.

Recently I read an guest post article by Upasna Gautam on the EventBrite Blog which gives 5 basic Facebook business page optimization tips.

Below is a quick summary of Upasna’s 5 Facebook tips:

1. Create and Set a Unique Facebook Name – Visit FaceBook.com/Username and select your Business Page from the drop-down list. You will then have a box to enter a desired user-name.

If the name you choose is available, it will appear in the Facebook business page URL, and won’t be able to be changed later, so choose wisely and check your spelling.

2. Add Interactive Facebook Applications – With Facebook offering 550,000 + applications, you can assuredly find an application or two to help you promote your website and its content through your Facebook business page.

Upasna’s top five must-have Facebook applications are: Networked Blogs, Static FBML (Facebook’s HTML), Promotions, Slideshare, and Reviews.

3. Add the Like Button Plug-in to Your Website – This button is a simple method to encourage a visitor to follow you on Facebook. If a person clicks on your Like button, the story will appear in their user’s friend’s news feed with a link back to your site.

4. Be Social and Let Your Fans be Too – Allow users to post on your wall, add photos or videos, tag, and comment on your posts. Allow a user to also comment on posts left by others.

5. Optimize Your Status Updates with Keywords – Like any other article you post on your blog, be sure to use keywords in the headings and other content, because Facebook business pages are indexed by search-engines, which can show up in real-time search results.

Closing Comments About Upasna’s Facebook Business Page Tips!

There are many businesses out there today using Facebook as a second nature homepage, so adding some of these basic optimizing principals to your Facebook business page can result in significantly increased traffic back to your site.

Use the Google Toolbar Highlighter to Check for Over-Optimizing!

The Google toolbar is an add-on for both the Microsoft Internet Explorer and Firefox web browsers. The Google Toolbar includes several features that should prove useful during the various stages of SEO.

These features include the Google PageRank of a web page, an auto fill option to cut down on the time spent typing the same information over and over again, and a tool to highlight a given keyword or keyword phrase within a page.

I love this highlighting feature for the purpose of having a visual check of my keyword density. Many pages that are focused too much on one keyword phrase have a tendency to rank worse for what some SEO experts would call over-optimizing. For this reason, I can look at my highlighted keyword phrase, then make some changes to my content using LSI Keyword Research.

The screen-shot below shows the keywords ‘Static IP Address’, in which I used for my previous article, but at the same time I highlighted the secondary LSI keyword ‘Dedicated’. This allowed me to take a visual look at the article to see if the keywords ran together too closely, etc.

To quote from my LSI Keyword Research article, “It’s been my experience that pages that are focused on a larger amount of related keywords have a tendency to have more stable rankings for the main keyword or phrase and rank for a wider net of keywords.”

All you need to do is to insert a keyword or phrase into the Google Toolbar to quickly see where and how the keyword is used throughout the web page. The Google toolbar highlights the keyword wherever it appears, whether it’s in the headline, subheading, body copy, or internal linking structure.

Do You Have a Static IP or Shared IP Address? To Add a Boost of Speed and Confidence, Have Your Hosting Plan Include a Static IP Address! Follow the Link to Find Out Why!

Do You Have a Static Server IP Address or Shared IP Address?

To continue with my series “Speed Up Your Site”, I have another tip for you… a static server IP address. If you read my article about Grid Server Hosting from a couple of days ago, and have considered checking with your hosting company to change over to grid server hosting, then while you are at it, ask them for a static IP address.

“A dedicated, or static IP (Internet Protocol) is a unique Internet address dedicated exclusively to a single hosting account. Normally, several hosting accounts reside on a single server and share that server’s IP address. Dedicated IP addresses are usually used for large SSL-encrypted secure websites and particularly large and/or traffic-heavy sites.”

“Most shared hosting users have little need for a static IP address. However, a dedicated IP address does provide certain advantages, it will ensure faster response times during periods of high traffic load.”

If you are on a shared hosting plan, unless you specified a static IP address when you signed up, then most likely you have a shared IP address too.

According to a GoDaddy.com representative, in many cases sites with a static IP address are on different servers than ones that are on for shared IP hosting. So, if you have made the decision to make the switch to grid server hosting, make sure you ask about a dedicated IP address.

If you decide to add the static IP address at a later date, you may experience some site downtime to make the switch. Be sure to ask your hosting provider about this scenario, so you can make an educated decision whether to get the dedicated IP address at the same you make the server hosting switch.

Before I switched over to the static server IP address, I asked the GoDaddy.com representative named Matt to explain to me the benefits of the static IP address.

Matt mentioned to think of me staying in a hotel… a mailman is due to deliver a package to me for the seminar that I am giving, but the only address the mailman has is the address to the building itself (shared IP address). Matt said, now that the mailman has made it to the hotel, he needs further directions to find me requiring a stop at the front desk.

If the mailman had the full address, including the room number (static IP address), then he could deliver the package directly to me without having to stop and ask for further directions. If the person at the front desk is busy with another person or a line of people, the mailman will have to stand in line also, to find out what room I’m in.

Even though re-routing for the person’s website takes milli-seconds once the HTTP request reaches the server through the shared IP address, if there are many requests or traffic spikes on that server, the process will be slowed down.

There are also cases where a shared IP could hurt your site. If one of the websites sharing your IP address suffers an issue… let’s say spam, adult content or another penalty, this could extend to the whole IP address. Your blog could suffer the consequences as well.

This is a rare situation, but it could happen.

Closing Comments About a Dedicated/Static IP Address

If your blog or website is growing in leaps and bounds, I think it might be a wise idea to grab a dedicated IP address as an investment in your business.

If you want to optimize your site for faster loading times, plus continue to build your business with confidence, take the extra steps as I have, and pay the few dollars a month extra to avoid any unexpected trouble.

I recently moved my blog over to a ‘Grid’ server hosting plan, along with a static server IP address, to give my blog a boost of speed. With all of the plug-ins and widgets to spruce up the look and feel of my blog, the javascript and other scripts to run my many applications, and the many HTTP and image requests that are made to the server just to load a page, I decided it was time for a change.

When I made my move over to grid hosting, I left my traditional shared server hosting plan of 5 years, to make the move to the super highway of servers. Although grid technology is not new, the server technology has come a long way over the years, so I am sharing my experience that could most assuredly speed up your blogs loading time.

The best way to describe what grid web hosting is, would be to tell you what GoDaddy.com has to say on the subject.

“Think of Grid Hosting Technology as a highway, and traditional Shared Hosting as a single lane road. When traffic is steady and consistent, the single lane is just fine – but when traffic spikes or there is an accident, things slow to a halt.”

“With Grid Technology, traffic increases are spread across multiple ‘lanes’ to keep your site up and running smoothly. Grid Hosting Technology is a flexible hosting platform that distributes your website content among multiple servers as opposed to just one server (Shared Hosting).”

“More servers mean more power, speed and reliability.”

“With traditional Shared Hosting, hundreds – even thousands – of websites are supported on a single server. With multiple servers, if one happens to fail, the others are still there to keep your site up and running.”

Closing Comments About Grid Server Hosting

With all of the HTTP requests that my site makes to the server, plug-in scripts, images etc, just to load the page, I felt it was a smart move to transfer my site over to grid server web hosting.

You may already be on a grid server hosting plan right now, but it is most definitely worth a check with your hosting company. If you are not, check with them to find out what types of hosting they can offer you to speed up your site, and give you that boost of up-time confidence.

Increase Your Site’s Exposure Networking with MyBlogLog!

MyBlogLog, located at http://www.mybloglog.com/, is a popular social networking service that includes a popular web widget that you can install on your blog or content site. The MyBlogLog widget shows your weblog visitors the most recent MyBlogLog members who have visited your web site, including each member’s avatar and screen name.

The MyBlogLog community represents an eclectic group of individuals that are interested in finding new web sites. You can use the MyBlogLog widget and community to increase traffic to your web site and build buzz around your web site content.

In addition to displaying the MyBlogLog widget on your web site, your MyBlogLog membership consists of a profile page that is made publicly available on MyBlogLog.com. Your MyBlogLog profile page can include lists of web sites you own and blogs you author, and a personal or business profile that you can use to actively build contacts from the MyBlogLog community.

Navigate to http://www.mybloglog.com/, if you have a Yahoo ID, you can sign in by clicking “Sign In with a Yahoo ID”. Login and click “Edit Profile”, insert relevant information about yourself and your company or service. When complete, be sure to update your profile, then search for blogs using the search box in the upper-right corner of the page.

Of course you’ll want to find weblogs related to your own and other MyBlogLog members who share your interests. If you were to search for example, “Internet Marketing”, the results include MyBlogLog members interested in Internet Marketing and a list of blogs related to Internet Marketing. You can contact these members and visit their blogs to form partnerships and find networking opportunities.

People can leave you public or private messages on your profile page, and you do the same leaving messages for others. Messages include your avatar, screen name, and a link back to your profile page. Leaving messages is a good strategy for encouraging others to visit your profile page and learn more about the web sites that you author.

Your profile page includes a feature that allows you to see the most recent members of the MyBlogLog community to visit your page. You should add as a contact any MyBlogLog members that visit your profile page, and you should also return the favor by visiting their profile pages.

Protect Your Google Account with Two-Factor Authentication!

Yesterday Google released an Advanced Sign in Security. This is a two-factor authentication process that will take place each time you log in to your Google account. It makes your account significantly more secure, because the steps that Google has come up with, only the real owner of the account would be able to verify.

Hackers prey on the least informed people that don’t take the steps that are offered to protect themselves. Don’t fall victim to a stranger that wants to mess your account up!

Here’s the way it works as written straight from the horse’s mouth (Google)… “Using 2-step verification will help prevent strangers from accessing your account with just a stolen password. When you sign in with 2-step verification, you’ll verify your identity using both a password and a code that you receive on your phone.”

Hackers are going to have a difficult time with this new system, because even if they somehow get your password, they only have half of what is needed to access your account. It is a little bit of extra work to access your account with this two-step verification, but having your account hacked is even more work to fix.

As written from Matt Cutts of Google… “If someone hacked your Gmail account, think of all the other passwords they could get access to, including your domain name or webhost accounts.” Matt also says “I use it on my Gmail account and you should too.” Follow the link for instruction, and protect yourself now by enabling the two-factor authentication.

Would You Like to Know What a Person is Looking for When They Visit Your Site? Many People use the Search Box... When They Do, You Can Know Which Keyword Terms they Typed into the Box!

Track What Keywords Readers Type into Your Search Box!

Have you ever wondered what a person might be looking for when they visit your site? If you have a search box on your weblog, it makes sense to track what folks type into it… you can learn a lot about your audience.

Even if your site is user-friendly with navigation that a 5 year old can follow, many people will cut to the chase and type a few topic keywords in your search box to bring up posts for the subject they are searching for.

Do you use Google Analytics to monitor your site? If you don’t, follow the link and sign up for a Google Analytics account to start learning more about your readers.

Are you aware that you can track the search terms that a person types into your search box using Google Analytics? Well you can, and here’s how to set it up.

To set up a site search in Google analytics, follow these steps:

1. – Log into Google Analytics.

2. – Click Edit next to the web site for which you want to track your site’s search box terms.

3. – Click Edit at the top right-side of the box, ‘Main Website Profile Information’.

4. – Select the ‘Do Track Site Search’ radio button (see image below).

Tracking Your Site's Search Box with Google Analytics

5. – Leave the Google Analytics page open in your browser, then open a separate browser window or tab for the next few steps.

6. – In the new browser or tab window, go to your web site.

7. – Search for the example, “Green Widgets” using your weblog’s search box. Look at the address of the search results page. (you should find the words Green Widgets in the address, as well as a query attribute, in this case the letter s).

Search query attributes can be words such as “term”, “search” or “query”. Many times the search query word is simply a letter, such as “s” or “q” as my weblog shows.

8. – Enter the query attribute in the Query Parameter field in Google Analytics (see the first image, bottom arrow).

9. – Click Save Changes.

You’re done… within a few hours you’ll start seeing the phrases people search for on your site. To locate this in your Google Analytics, navigate to your Dashboard > Content > Site Search.

Load Time Test of ALL Page Elements to Find Bottlenecks!

Does your Weblog load slowly? Are you looking at the words Loading… Loading… Loading, or that little spinning wheel that your browser uses for showing a slow loading page? A while ago, my blog was this little spinning wheel until I discovered a website to help me find out what was bringing my site to a crawl.

If you would like to find out the loading time of your site and what might be slowing it down, run a site speed analysis test with PingDom!

This FREE tool will test the loading time and analyze pages of your site to find performance robbing bottlenecks. Once you find out where these bottlenecks are, eliminate them unless they are crucial for bringing traffic to your site, or are a must for the operation of your business.

Below is the latest speed loading time for my weblog. Thanks to this online tool, I have brought my loading time below 3 seconds on the average. I have one more bottleneck that I am working on which should bring my times down to under 2.5 seconds for a full page load.

In the beginning of January, I wrote an article about how your website’s loading speed is being used in the Google Ranking Algorithm. In this article I stated how much fun I was having with my blog because of all the awesome plug-ins and widgets I added to my sidebar to make it more interesting for the readers.

What I wasn’t putting into consideration is how much more information I was adding to my site that would slow down the loading times which can quite possibly turn people away.

Since this time, I have taken the loading times of my site more seriously and removed non-crucial plug-ins and widgets, plus made adjustments of images, CSS and other elements to optimize my website for speed.

You’ll be happy to know that PingDom is an uptime monitoring company… in short, you can create an account with them and they will monitor your site and alert you if they detect a problem. If your site happens to go down, they will notify you immediately by email or Short Message Service (SMS).

When you create an account, you will have options for monitoring… you can have your site monitored every 1 minute if you choose, plus they will create tests from many different locations around the world to make sure it’s actually down.

PingDom has free and paid monitoring that will provide you with up-time and performance monitoring reports which makes it easy for website owners to know if their website is working 24/7, and help them find out what’s gone wrong if there is a problem.

Closing Comments About Your Site’s Load Time Testing!

The way I began my campaign to decrease my loading times was to compare my blog to a competitors site using the link that you will find in the article Site Speed Used in Google Ranking Algorithm.

I set my goal super-high, and now my site is loading faster than ProBlogger.net which was a huge mountain for me to climb. Set yourself a target site-speed loading time to meet, or a competitor to beat using the WhichSiteLoadsFaster link, and don’t stop optimizing your site until you accomplish it.

Because blogs are notorious for loading slowly, doing this will set you apart from your blogging competition, and your followers will thank you for it!

Follow the link to find other great tools to help with your optimizing needs!

Increase Your Site’s Traffic by Submitting to Directories!

Not to mistaken Article Directory Submission Sites, website directories offer a way of collecting and categorizing links to other web sites. They are not search engines and behave nothing like search engines.

For example, whereas a search engine collects entries using a search crawler or robot, search directories are populated by people. You enter your web site in a directory, and then the entry is reviewed by a real person before the site is included in the directory listings.

You must complete a submission process in order to have your site included in most directories. When you submit the information about your site, there is an art to doing it. How you list your site can mean the difference between the site being included in the directory or not.

Before you even begin to create your listing, it’s usually a good idea to navigate through the directory to which you’re submitting your site. Look at other listings and take note of what works in them.

Keywords are of little importance when you’re creating your directory listing. Instead, what will make the difference is the content on your web site. Therefore, if you’re faced with listing in a directory that’s strict about reviewing sites before they are listed, make sure you have fresh content on your site.

Links can also be important when your site is being reviewed for inclusion in a directory, so be sure you keep your links updated. Broken links are typically detrimental to your site, and links that lead to unrelated pages won’t reflect well either.

Other elements that editors evaluate include the following:

Appropriate categorization

Accurate titles and descriptions

Title and descriptions relevant to the subject of the web site

Domain names that match site titles

Contact information that’s easily accessible

Links to privacy policies, return policies, and product or service guarantees

Working and appropriate links to other sites and resources

Increasingly, both search engines and directories are taking the actual code used to build the site into consideration when determining search results. It’s always a good idea to run your code through an HTML validator to ensure that it is free of errors and unnecessary elements.

Clean code simply renders better and makes it easier for crawlers to navigate your web site. For more information about site validation, read my recent article HTML Site Validation!

In addition to these requirements, most directories have a long list of criteria that are reviewed before a site is actually added to the directory. That’s why it can sometimes take weeks or months for your site to be listed. Depending on the volume of submissions to the directory, it can be a slow process for editors to review each web site.

When you’re ready to submit your web site to a directory, take the time to completely read the directions provided by the directory. If you don’t follow these directions closely, it’s far more likely that your site will be rejected from the listings.

One other important submission guideline to remember is to submit only your site’s main page. When directories include sites that have been reviewed, they usually list the whole site as a single entry, rather than list each page separately, as search engines do.

Major Online Directories

One of the most well-known directories on the Internet is the Open Directory Project (ODP) managed by DMOZ.org. This general directory is edited by a team of volunteers. It is a representative of the various types of directories that are available for you to list your site with. Although there might be some slight differences, the directions of listing your site with ODP are very similar to those you would find when listing with other directories.

To list your Web site in the ODP directory, take these steps:

1. Navigate to the Open Directory Project web site at: http://www.dmoz.org/

2. Navigate to the category and subcategory where it would be appropriate for your site to appear. Then, in the top-right corner of the page, click Suggest URL.

3. You are taken to the submission site. Read all the instructions carefully and fill in the submission form completely.

4. When you’re finished filling out the form, click the Submit button. You’re taken to a thank-you page, and your submission process is complete.

5. Now you just have to wait for the editorial committee to complete its review. When the review is complete, you should receive notification indicating whether or not the site has been accepted and listed.

Like search engines, there are hundreds of different directories online. Some are general directories, whereas others are very specific and associated with only one industry or organization. When you’re selecting the directories to which you’d like to submit your site, be choosy. Don’t try to list your site in a directory that’s inappropriate, it will be a waste of your time and will most likely be rejected.

Here are some of the most well-known directories on the Web:

Google Directory at: http://directory.google.com/. Google Directory is one of those directories built on the ODP platform. Google is most well known for its search capabilities, but adding a directory takes advantage of the desire of the Internet users to dig deeper into very specific search results.

GoGuides.org at: http://www.goguides.org/addurl.html. This directory’s purpose is to be completely spam-free. It’s comprehensive search directory that even has image-searching capabilities. This directory has a one-time process fee of $69.95 and comes with a money back guarantee if your submission is declined.

SearchSight located at: http://searchsight.com/submit.htm is another general directory. SearchSight is one of the lesser-known directories, but it’s quickly gaining traction in the search market.

Search Engines Read Web Pages Line by Line... HTML Syntax Errors Can Trigger a Penalty if the Invalid Code Prevents the Search-Engine Spider from Reading the Content. Use the W3C HTML Site Validator to Test Your Site.

Use the HTML Site Validator Tool to Test Your Site!

Valid, properly written HTML allows search engines to easily read your web page content and underlying HTML code. Much like the English language, there is a right way and a wrong way to write the code that structures your web pages.

The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), an international group that works to develop protocols and guidelines that ensure the long-term growth of the Web, has developed standards for HTML development. Web browser developers like Mozilla and Microsoft adhere to these standards to guarantee cross-browser uniformity when displaying web pages.

Search Engines read web sites line by line, and errors in your HTML syntax can trigger a penalty if the invalid code prevents the search-engine spider from reading the content. Invalid code can also cause web sites to look different from browser to browser.

Use the W3C Markup Validation tool at: http://validator.w3.org/ to test your web page code for standard compliance. Just enter your web site URL in to the location bar, and the validation tool shows you any errors that your code contains and also gives suggestions to help you fix any problems.

You should make your best attempt to pass the validation test, but do not spend a great deal of time if it appears to be impossible. I personally have some plug-ins that come with invalid code that I cannot change, so if I want the benefits of using them, I don’t have a choice but to accept the errors. Many sites do not pass, including Google, Yahoo, and most other heavily visited Internet hot spots.

Search engines are unlikely to penalize your site for including invalid code unless it significantly hinders the capability of the search-engine spiders to read your web pages. W3C Markup Validation is primarily in place to ensure compatibility with all current and future technologies, and adhering to the W3C standards is likely to become more and more necessary if you want your web site to display properly on these devices.

Closing Comments about Site Validation

Although it has not been proven to increase search-engine rankings, writing valid HTML is another weapon in an arsenal of best-practice techniques that are likely to have a cumulative effect on overall search-engine approval.

Increasingly, both search engines and article directories are taking the actual code used to build the site into consideration when determining search results. It’s always a good idea to run your code through an HTML validator to ensure that it is free of errors and unnecessary elements. Clean code simply renders better and makes it easier for crawlers to navigate your web site.
